We often feel nostalgic in periods of transition when we long for a place and time we experienced in the past. The past becomes idealized, and our memories become small, unblemished fragments we return to when we see, hear, or smell something that brings us back.
This series is a reflection of the memories I have from growing up visiting family in Scottsdale, Arizona. The series of paintings depicts these fragments and tells a story of the emotional context that creates nostalgia.
"Body Image" detail
This series conveys how every pair of shoes can tell a story or reveal an emotion. I used the subject of shoes to explore the memories of my own life and the human emotions I've observed in others. All pieces are painted with acrylic.
